St Joseph’s Pre-school
“Each and every day is different.”
St Joseph’s Pre-school is a community owned and managed group (a registered charity*) who welcomes children from 2 years to school age. The Committee is voluntary and is made up of a combination of elected parents/carers of those children attending the Pre-school (known as Family Members) and other interested individuals, persons and other bodies (known as Extra Members) – including parent/carers of children who were once at the setting. Therefore, the support and assistance that we receive from parents is vital to our continued success. The Pre-school aims to work with parents in supporting their child’s early education.
St Joseph’s Pre-school, formerly Hill Tots Playgroup, was established, with the backing of the Head of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, on 19 March 2001. It was originally based in Nympsfield Village Hall, moved to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School’s Out of School club in December 2006, then in 2009 transferred to the Leigh Building where it now resides. Pre-school building is situated adjacent to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.
The Pre-school continues to have close connections with the Primary School, using its hall for physical activities and participates in joint fundraising activities with the School’s PTA. Numbers of attendees have steadily grown over the years and the facilities have been, and are continually, updated. The majority of our children transfer into the Primary School’s Reception class.
In February 2023 St Joseph’s Pre-school was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, and are very proud to have maintained the ‘Good’ rating, particularly as the inspection of early years provision has changed and become more challenging.
St Joseph’s Pre-school is open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 3.00pm, during term time (38 weeks per year).
Early Morning Session available from 8.45am to 9.00am at an additional cost; booking for this can be contract or ad-hoc.
We have a Facebook page, ‘St Joseph’s Pre-school’, where you can see what the children are getting up to.
